Workshop attendees will participate in safe interactive discussions that build historical perspective, common understanding and tools for change to include:
- Definition of terms to establish a common understanding
- The relationship between systems, institutions and communities
- The intersection of race and poverty and race and wealth
- An analysis of the historical construct of race and racism
- Cultural and social impact on us as individuals, our society and institutions
- The four faces of racism and how oppression operates
- Unpacking white privilege and racial superiority
- The characteristics of culture
The goal is to build common understanding of race and racism among regional leaders so that they can take what they learn back to their communities, places of employment, family and friends in order to create a ripple effect of change.
